John P. John P. Georgides, husband of Catherine (Taupier)
Georgides, of Glastonbury, died Sunday, (July 18, 2004) in
Manchester Hospital. He was born in Glastonbury, son of the late
Frank and Julia (Rubaha) Georgides and lived in Glastonbury all of
his life. John was in the Navy during World War II, serving in the
South Pacific and was called back to duty for the Korean Conflict.
He was a lifetime member of the Glastonbury Volunteer Fire Dept.
Co. 1, The St. Paul's Men's Club, the Telephone Company Pioneer
Bowling Club and a founding member and past president of the New
England Antique Racers. John had a 25 year old racing career and
continued after his retirement as a pit steward. In 1963 he was a
member of the 100,000 miles at 100 MPH durability run of the
Mercury Comet at Daytona, FL. Besides his wife, he is survived by
a daughter Marie Pardi and her husband Daniel of East Hartford, 3
sons, John Georgides, Jr. and his fiance Marylou Sullivan of
Coventry, Stephen and Lauren Georgides of South Windsor, Robert
and Kim Georgides of East Hartford, a sister, Esther Murrey and
her husband Raymond of New Port Richey, FL, and a brother
Constantinos and Marie Georgides of Pennsylvania. John is also
survived by 8 grandchildren, John Georgides, Christopher Georgides,
Melissa Pardi, Lauren Georgides, Sean Georgides, Alec Direnzo,
Hannah Georgides and Sydney Georgides. The funeral will be held
Wednesday, July 21, at 9:30 a.m. from the Farley-Sullivan Funeral
Home, 50 Naubuc Ave., Glastonbury followed by a Mass of Christian
Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St.,
Glastonbury. Burial will be in Niepsic Cemetery, Glastonbury.
Friends may call at the funeral home TODAY from 4 - 8 p.m.
